October is our birthday month, and every year, we celebrate the best way we know how: with a challenge to our members and by giving back to the community that has provided us so much support! This year, more than ever, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a month-long event uniting us around a common cause while raising funds for those in our community who need it most: children who have been abused, neglected, or otherwise displaced from their families. Please join us!

We’re calling it Run for a Reason, one part challenge ๐Ÿคจ, one part fundraiser ๐Ÿค‘, and 100% ๐Ÿ’ฏ fun with loads of opportunities to win PRIZES, big and small! Because shouldn’t you be rewarded for your hardwork?!? We’ll also provide lots of pro-tips, learning opportunities, and encouragement along the way!

The Challenge:

Get outside every. Single. Day in the month of October for a run or active intentional walk. How long you ask? For the number of minutes corresponding to the date. So, on October 1st, you'll do 1 minute. On the 2nd, do 2 minutes, and so on, all the way up to 30 minutes on the 30th and then 31 minutes on the 31st! It's progressive, so you can build up your endurance as you go, each day adding just 1 more minute. ๐Ÿ“ˆ The key is consistency!

Your minutes can be completed anywhere OUTSIDE. The intention is to get outside, rain or shine…or heaven forbid snow! ๐Ÿ˜– Download a tracking calendar HERE ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ to keep track of all minutes completed. For purposes of this challenge, you can NOT work ahead, but you can make-up days missed. The goal is to complete the entire month (which amounts to a total of 500 minutes, that’s 8 hours and 20 minutes ๐Ÿ˜ฒ by the end of the month), but of course, we would love to have you participate in so far as you’re able!

If you do complete the whole month, you get an additional entry ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ into our GRAND PRIZE DRAWINGS! Remember, running or active, intentional walking both count!

The Fundraiser:

If you’re in, we’re asking you to register and COMMIT with a $10 contribution. ALL of those proceeds will be donated to our 2 selected charity organizations: Spokane Angels and Children’s Village in Cd’A. Your registration is also your FIRST ENTRY ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ into our Grand Prize drawings (we have 3 AWESOME packages)!

This event is open to the community, so we encourage you to invite your kids, significant other, and other family and friends to join you! Register them all…or if they’re not up for the running/walking, ask them to sponsor your effort. Every additional $50 you raise = 1 more entry ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ into the prize drawings!

Shirts:

Of course there are shirts to document this awesome event, with all proceeds included in the final donation! You have 4 options:

  • Unisex Tank = $20
  • Ladies Tank = $20
  • Kids Tee = $20
  • Long-Sleeve = $30

Place your order via the registration page. Last day to order is Saturday October 17th. Shirts will be available for pickup approximately 2 weeks later (or mailed if you live outside the greater Spokane/Cd’A area).

Prizes:

You know we had to save the best for last! We have 3 GRAND PRIZE PACKAGES that will be drawn after the month is completed. How do you enter?

  1. $10 registration = 1 entry ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ
  2. Every additional $50 raised = 1 additional entry ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ
  3. Complete the WHOLE month, all 500 minutes = 1 more entry ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ

In addition to the Grand Prize Packages, we’re also doing โœจweekly giveawaysโœจ via social media, so make sure you are following us:

Where the Money Goes:

All proceeds raised during the month—registrations, shirt sales, plus any additional donations—will be divided evenly and donated to the following two organizations:

Spokane Angels

The Spokane Angels mission is to walk alongside children in the foster care system, as well as their caretakers, by offering consistent support through intentional giving, relationship building, and mentorship.

Intentional Giving: The giving of thoughtful gifts and resources that meet the real needs of the child and their entire family.

Relationship Building: Devoting time and energy to fostering healthy relationships that promote healing through connection.

Mentorship: Equipping and empowering the children in our programs to be prepared for adult living and to reach their fullest potential.

Children's Village

A licensed residential care facility for children located in Coeur d'Alene, dedicated to providing a safe haven and restoring hope for children who have been abused, neglected, or are in severe family crisis.

Children’s Village is the only non-profit children’s residential care facility in Kootenai County and houses the only Crisis Nursery in North Idaho. Their two residential homes are open 24 hours, 365 days per year for children removed from their home by law enforcement or the Department of Health and Welfare or by families unable to provide adequate care as a result of a severe crisis. It is the only foster care facility capable of serving large sibling groups.

Please join us in supporting these two local organizations!
